Visited Kossherun Café

Gourmet Guide

We went to a café next to the Sabae City Library—today’s lunch group was just the four of us: me, my wife, Toru, and Toru’s wife.

The menu looked solid.

I went for the daily lunch special—it seemed like the safe bet.

For 1,200 yen, the portion was impressive. The taste had that comforting, home-style vibe.

Our conversation turned to AI—how intellectual labor might lose its value over the next couple of years. As AI takes over illustration, consulting, even things like social insurance paperwork, many mid-level knowledge jobs could vanish. I suppose the same goes for web programming—my line of work.

But communication skills, we all agreed, will only grow in value. My wife excels at that. Maybe someday she could run a little izakaya, and I’ll play the quiet support role—carrying trays and clearing tables. Or something like that. Who knows.

On the way out, Toru gave us a souvenir. He had just come back from Expo 2025 in Osaka.

It was surprisingly tasty.

Still, I’m not really sold on the whole expo thing. I’d rather have AI expose the dark side of it all.

The end.
