We went to watch a street rally by the Conservative Party of Japan in front of Happiring.
The lineup was amazing—Hyakuta-san, Arimoto-san, Professor Shimada, Osaka-san (a candidate for the next House of Councillors election), and even lawyer Kitamura. I couldn’t pass this up, so I invited my wife to join me.

We arrived about 45 minutes early, and there was already a crowd. Even people on the second floor were watching—must’ve been around 300 people at that point. I debated whether to watch from above or stay below, but in the end, we decided to stay close to the action.

At the scheduled time, Hyakuta, Arimoto, and Professor Shimada arrived to big applause. Looking back, the crowd had doubled—Happiterasu was packed with supporters.
Although the lineup was impressive, the sound wasn’t ideal. The speaker’s voice echoed a bit, and oddly, they didn’t turn off the background music usually playing at Happiring. That made it tough to hear at times.
Osaka Kotaro, who is running in the upcoming upper house election, gave a passionate speech. Maybe a bit *too* passionate. Since he runs a restaurant, I kind of hoped he would elaborate more on the consumption tax issue.

The audio got clearer in the second half—maybe they adjusted the sound system.

Lawyer Kitamura’s speech was probably the most compelling—clear and engaging, he really knew how to connect with people.
Arimoto-san’s voice projected well too, very easy to hear. Though when it came to witty comebacks, Kitamura had the upper hand. (laughs)

To wrap things up, the mic was passed to Umehara-san—well-known among Conservative Party of Japan fans. He casually mentioned he had eaten some oroshi soba. (Nice local touch!)

All in all, it was a great event. I’m looking forward to the upcoming election. Even my wife said she found it really interesting.
The end.
“A human being must live with purpose. Without it, we are nothing more than animals.”
