A Serendipitous Stop at MINIE Food Hall in Fukui
It was just after the crowd began to fade at the MINIE food hall in front of Fukui Station when I decided to wander in. Drawn by the warm glow of lanterns swaying above the counter at a spot called “Momiji,” I noticed an open seat—lucky me. These spontaneous moments usually turn out to be the right ones.

I started simple: a bottle of Sapporo Red Star. I wasn’t particularly hungry, so I went with three skewers of kushikatsu and a small dish of pickles. It was the perfect light combo—and absolutely satisfying as bar snacks go.

Lately, I’ve been into having ChatGPT do fortune-telling. I got my friend Antonio to try it too—he posed with his arms outstretched so I could snap a photo for both face and palm reading. Within seconds, the AI returned a surprisingly accurate reading. It’s a weird little ritual, but it’s been hitting some unexpected truths.

Still thinking about that smoky whisky I recently tried from Saburomaru Distillery, I ordered it on the rocks. The aroma was bold, the flavor deep—but the pour? Rather stingy, I must say.

For anyone curious, here’s a peek at the rest of the menu too:
