Had My Last Meal at Kansuke

Gourmet Guide

I made one last visit to Kansuke, a beloved local gem in Imadate, which closed its doors for good today.

Worried it might get crowded, we arrived just before the 11 AM opening. But to our surprise, the place was already open, and about a third of the seats were already filled. It seems they decided to open early today.

We were seated in a tatami room with a view of the garden. Seeing it again, I realized just how beautiful it is.

Since it was our final meal here, we ordered three dishes and split them between the two of us.

Chuka Soba (Chinese-style ramen)

A bowl of chuka soba with clear broth and sliced pork

Omurice (omelet rice)

Omurice topped with rich demi-glace sauce

Oroshi Soba (buckwheat noodles with grated daikon)

A refreshing bowl of oroshi soba with grated daikon

By the time we left, the place was packed and people were already waiting for seats.

Thank you, Kansuke, for all the delicious memories. You’ll be missed.

That’s a wrap.
