We visited “sobakura Yamaoku Nishimuraya” for a lunch meetup. Our original destination was closed that day, and several backup options were also shut, so we eventually stumbled upon this place by process of elimination.

The inside was spacious with both tatami and table seating. We were shown to a table.
The menu was impressively extensive.

One item in particular stood out—“Mayo Katsu & Yaki Soba”—a Japanese soba noodle stir-fry topped with cutlets and mayonnaise. We were curious, so we ordered one to share between the three of us.
For my own meal, I went with ramen. What looks like grated yam is actually seaweed.

Toru had the oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl).

My wife ordered chilled Chinese-style noodles.

Even though we each ordered something different, all the food arrived quickly. I wonder what kind of kitchen magic they use.
And here’s the shared yaki soba. It had that perfect B-grade gourmet vibe.

The Mayo Katsu Yaki Soba was tasty, but some of the other menu items were even more intriguing.
Like this one: a collaboration between “butamin power” and sticky yam power, paired with none other than… a Chocovita energy drink! (What even *is* butamin power?)

And this gem: Trio de Potato Soba. That’s right—fries on top of chilled soba noodles. A visual shocker for sure.

All in all, it was quite an entertaining little spot.
That’s a wrap.
