Seiko Crab Rice Bowl at Kōno Roadside Station

Gourmet Guide

Craving a bowl of divine crab, I set my compass for “Michi-no-Eki Kōno”—a roadside station with sea-scented secrets.

The menu was simple, but the stakes were high. Crab bowl for 2,200 yen? Tempting. Seiko crab bowl for 2,800 yen? Irresistible. Naturally, I went all in with the premium choice. Go big or go home, right?

They only start prepping after your order, cracking shells and extracting every glorious strand of meat. So yes, it took a while—but oh, the anticipation.

A bowl of miso soup came along for the ride. And here’s the twist—you dress your crab bowl with soy sauce or sweet vinegar, your choice. I went with both. Culinary chaos? No—umami harmony.

Not a shell or sinew in sight. Just pure, unadulterated crab glory. Every bite sang a seaside ballad.

Also, shoutout to the 500-yen ramen on the side menu. It called to me… next time, dear noodles, next time.

The end.
