This trip to Tokyo was all about one thing: seeing Akiko Yano live at Blue Note Tokyo.

It was my first visit to Blue Note Tokyo. Thanks to Light’s supernatural ticketing skills, we landed seats right in the center—like royalty, honestly.

We kicked things off with a toast—red wine, naturally.

And then some nibbles and light bites followed.

Thought these were calamari or onion rings—but nope, they were just curly fries.

The concert was phenomenal. From the first note of the piano, it was pure Akiko Yano—her vocals entered and elevated everything instantly. Then the bass and drums joined in, creating a groove that was both soothing and alive. A perfect blend of surprise and nostalgia. I was stunned when she played “Thousand Knives” as an encore. That’s usually an instrumental!
By the time the show ended, we’d polished off three bottles of wine. Legend was a little too vocal—but let’s keep that between us.
The end.
“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.” — Victor Hugo
